This course is project-based and intended for students interested in a career in data science and analytics, with applications to the actuarial career. It is designed to give students an environment to work with other students on analytics/actuarial cases that simulate the real-life problems faced by analysts. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in various hands-on projects and cases.
By the end of the course, students will have working knowledge of basic analytic programs such as Excel and SQL. In addition, students will have a working knowledge of problem-solving in analytics with a focus on business implications and acumen. Furthermore, students will be equipped to understand and approach analytical problems in a holistic manner, considering ethics and the context of data with which they work.
