Virtual Meeting

Virtual Tabling is a great opportunity to get to know more about the club and its officers in a more intimate setting. If you have any questions about the club, we encourage you to come in and ask our officers who would be more than glad to help. California Actuarial League will be hosting Virtual Tabling from Monday, January 25th to Friday, January 29th between the hours of 9 am – 5 pm PST, accessible through appointment with this link.

Mentorship Program Application & Requirements

Thank you for those that attended our Meet the Team & Mentorship Kickoff this past Thursday, September 12. Please note that you are still able to apply to the program even if you were unable to make this event.

The Mentorship Program is a wonderful way for our members to receive a more personalized social experience in their professional development within the actuarial and data analytics industry. Those accepted to the program will receive a mentor from the officer team.

NOTE: You must be a member of Cal Actuarial League to register for the Mentorship Program. There is no application process required to become a member. If you would like to become a member, please come to our event and talk to one of our officers who be glad to help you out. There is a $20 one-time lifetime membership fee to become a member, payable in cash or Venmo at one of our events.

Requirements to join the program include:
(1) Being a member of Cal Actuarial League.
(2) Attending at least one info session on or before Thursday, 09/26.
(3) Scheduling at least 1 coffee chats with CAL officers on or before Thursday, 09/26. [E-mails are on the information slides.]
(4) Strongly recommended: attending the Professional Development Workshop on Tuesday, 09/17.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, September 17 by 11:59 PM.

Decisions will be released by Thursday, September 26 by 11:59 PM. If accepted, you will be invited to our social mixer on the evening on Friday, 09/27, so please save the date!

First General Meeting – Spring 2019

Greetings from Cal Actuarial League,

We hope everyone has had a wonderful winter and is ready to start the semester. Cal Actuarial League will be hosting our First General Meeting on February 5th at 8:00 PM in Barrows 166. Actuaries use data analytics to deal with risk management in the insurance and consulting industries. It is a very interdisciplinary career with many of our members majoring in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, and Business.

We will have two decals, actuarial case competition, and a professionally-hosted speaker series to learn more about how actuarial science relates to various analytical careers. Make sure to come to check out the various events Cal Actuarial League has planned for this semester at our First General Meeting.

Free food and refreshments will be provided!

Speaker Series

Speaker Series will be held on Thursday, November 8th at 8:00 PM in 150D Moffitt.

Cal Actuarial League Speaker Series is an event where industry professionals will come and share their work experiences. The four speakers in attendance are from Milliman, Delta Dental, Clover Health, a health insurance startup, and Arceo Analytics, a cybersecurity-related technology startup. Do not miss this great networking opportunity for you to talk and ask questions to the professionals!

Actuarial & Analytics Career Fair

Actuarial & Analytics Career Fair will be held on Tuesday, October 2nd from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in Anna Head Alumnae Hall.

The career fair will provide a great opportunity for those who are looking for a summer internship or a full-time position as an actuary, consultant, or analyst. Professionals from various companies will be present to discuss job openings and requirements. All majors and years are welcome to come network, and resumes will be accepted!

Companies that will be attending our career fair include: Milliman, CSAA Insurance Group, Aon, Oliver Wyman, Marsh, Beam Dental, Fidelity Investment, Mercer, Aetna, Capital Insurance Group, Delta Dental, Esurance, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Rael & Letson, Willis Towers Watson and more.
